Watch It In Action

Watch how I use the Orbit egg-style hose timer to water without ever worrying about forgetting to shut off the hose.

What Is the Egg Timer?

The Orbit mechanical hose end timer is exactly what it sounds like — a timer that screws onto your hose bib and automatically shuts the water off so you don't have to.

I call it the egg timer because of its round, dial-style knob. There are no batteries, no WiFi, no app to configure. It's pure mechanical simplicity. Just twist the knob to your desired run time (up to 2 hours) and the hose shuts off on its own when the time is up.

Perfect For

Filling a kiddie pool, soaking a garden bed, running a sprinkler, or any time you need water to run for a set period without standing there watching it.

1 Connect to Your Hose Bib

Thread the timer directly onto any standard outdoor hose bib (spigot). The 3/4-inch female thread fits virtually all residential hose connections. Hand-tighten — no tools needed.

2 Attach Your Hose

Connect your garden hose to the outlet port on the bottom of the timer. Again, hand-tight is sufficient.

3 Twist to Set Your Time

Turn the dial clockwise to your desired run time — anywhere from a few minutes up to 2 hours. As you twist, the valve opens and water starts flowing immediately. The timer counts down mechanically and shuts the water off automatically when time is up.

One Thing to Know

Always twist past the halfway point first before setting your exact time. Going straight to a short duration without winding past it can cause the timer to not shut off cleanly.

4 Walk Away

That's it. No reminder needed. No running back to shut it off. When the timer reaches zero, the water stops automatically. Your lawn, garden, or kiddie pool gets exactly the water it needs.
